The starting order for the 2026 edition of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans has been finalized following a dramatic qualifying session at the iconic Circuit de la Sarthe.
BMW M Team WRT will lead the field away after claiming pole position with its No. 15 Hypercar. The crew of Kevin Magnussen, Raffaele Marciello, and Dries Vanthoor inherited the top spot after a late twist involving Cadillac.
The No. 38 Cadillac Hertz Team Jota entry originally secured pole thanks to a record-breaking lap from Jack Aitken, but the team was later penalized for leaving its garage before the permitted time during qualifying. As a result, the car was demoted to 10th on the grid, promoting BMW to pole position.
Joining the pole-sitting BMW on the front row will be the No. 12 Cadillac Hertz Team Jota machine driven by Alex Lynn, Will Stevens, and Norman Nato. Alpine enjoyed an impressive qualifying performance and will start third, while BMW’s second car lines up fourth.
Cadillac’s No. 101 entry completes the top five, ahead of the Genesis Magma Racing Hypercar in sixth. Ferrari’s challenge begins from eighth and 12th positions with its factory AF Corse entries, while defending Le Mans winners AF Corse Ferrari will start further back in 17th place.
Toyota faces a difficult task after qualifying, with its highest-placed car only 14th on the grid. Peugeot also struggled to match the pace of the front-runners and will start from 16th and 18th positions.
In the LMP2 category, Forestier Racing by Panis secured class pole position and will start 19th overall. IDEC Sport joins them on the LMP2 front row, while reigning class winners Inter Europol Competition begin fourth in class.
Meanwhile, LMGT3 honours went to Heart of Racing Team, whose Aston Martin secured class pole. Vista AF Corse’s Ferrari will start alongside it on the front row of the GT category.
With 62 cars set to take the start, fans can expect another thrilling edition of endurance racing’s greatest event.
